🌟 Partner in the Spotlight 🌟Chardonnay Meerdael
This month, we proudly shine the spotlight on Chateau Meerdael — a true pioneer in Belgian sparkling wine and a name that has helped put Belgium back on the international wine map.
Driven by a clear philosophy, Chateau Meerdael is committed to elevating Belgian wine culture through professionalism, craftsmanship and an unwavering passion for quality. Their sparkling wines are crafted with meticulous care, offering refined bubbles that reflect both tradition and innovation.
Their story began in 1994, when founders Paul Vleminckx and An Lefever planted Chardonnay vines at a time when this grape variety was unheard of in Belgian still wines. Against all odds — and even against the advice of regional wine authorities — they pursued their vision of creating a Blanc de Blancs–style sparkling wine inspired by the Champagne region.
Their perseverance paid off: They produced Belgium’s first-ever sparkling Chardonnay, known today as the iconic Chardonnay Meerdael.
And in 2009, they became the first Belgians to win the Grand Gold Medal at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles in Valencia, proving that Belgian sparkling wine can stand proudly on the world stage.
Chateau Meerdael continues to embody the spirit of craftsmanship and courage — qualities that resonate strongly with our own values at Fetam.
